Pam Warren McKinnon - Solo Art Show

The Coach House Gallery congratulates Pam Warren McKinnon on her first solo show at the Brockville Arts Center. Pam is an exhibiting artist at The Three Horse Art Studio Show and many comments at last year's show indicated that she is regarded as an extremely accomplished watercolour artist. Apparently those comments have great support as Pam has received the recognition of being an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. The Brockville Arts Center is the stage for Pam's show, running from February 2 to February 25th.

Local Brockville scenes of the harbour, Centeen Park, Church Street, Jone's Creek, Shell and the Yacht Club races will be illuminated with the colour and poetry of Pam's brushstrokes. Two of the paintings being exhibited have won prestigious awards in the Ottawa Watercolour Society annual shows.

Pam chooses subjects she knows intimately, focusing first on a good composition with strong light and shadow. Colour changes across forms as it takes on or loses light. The warm and cool hues and playful backlighting bring life to the paper. The appeal of watercolour is it's luminosity. The paper, rather than the pigment, provides the light.

New to Pam's repertoire are the interior scenes, which are just another excuse for the exploration of shapes bathed in poetic light.

Art is an expression of my love for life. The art of painting and focusing on the "now" allows me to find myself and lose myself all at the same time professes Pam. Since Pam's subject matter is limitless, this show is a bit of her autobiography, her artistic goal remains the same. Pam wants to create art that gives her viewer pleasure.

Pam's fellow artists and friends wish her "All The Best" for her show and we look forward to seeing some of her new work at the Three Horse Art Studio Show on Thanksgiving weekend Ocober 9th through October 11th.
