Painters in Motion
The 3rd Annual Three Horse Art Studio Show & Sale saw the artist brushes and paint moving much faster than normal! On Saturday October 10th, show visitors were entertained by the seven participating artists creating seven canvas paintings. This event, "Painters in Motion" was thouroughly enjoyed by the artists and the show visitors.
Painters in Motion saw each artist begin a canvas, then in 15 minute increments hand off the canvas and accept the new canvas placed at their easel. Adding paint to someone else's creation was a challenge. Each artist was faced with a new scene and had to add value in order to move that painting along to a saleable piece. The theme of the event was "Skyscapes", the paintings had to have a minimum of 80% sky. This theme was evident in each of the paintings as the initial statment on the original canvas was either built on or replaced as the paintings morphed through the minds and hands of the next artist.
The result was surprising!! Each of the seven paintings was saleable and the audience was particpating as the final turn on the easel wound up. The artists as a group admitted they did not know what to expect and the result was something they enjoyed being a part of. The Gananoque Humane Society then ran a Silent Auction and at the end of the show each painting had a home to go to and the Humane Society benefited with a total of $830 in their fundraising campaign.
Painters in Motion will definitely be a part of next years 4th Annual Three Horse Art Studio Show & Sale. Mark your calendar for next Thanksgiving/Columbus Day weekend. |
