Three Horse Studio Art Show 2010

The 4th Annual Three Horse Studio Art Show is well into the planning stages, looking forward to bringing new pieces from our returning core group of artists as well as art from new guest artists. The show planning will deliver an exciting offering for all our visitors. Each year we have enjoyed greater attendance and guest feedback has helped to guide our efforts in preparing for this year’s show.

Joining our core group of artists, Karen Bockus, Sheila Ballantyne, Leo Carl, Kathrine Christensen and George Hurst will be guest artists Pam Warren McKinnon, Lisa Free and Mary-Louise Scappaticci-Olajos. This group of eight artists are very eager to share their new work and encourage you to come, experience this unique setting and our presentation of high quality fine art.

We will again partner with the Gananoque Humane Society to assist their fundraising efforts by featuring "Painters In Motion" for our repeat performance.

Karen Bockus
Words cannot express my feelings as I see my dream come to life with the annual Three Horse Art Studio Show. With our 4th annual show on the horizon, it's inspiration enough to want to create a finer body of work.

Sheila Ballantyne
One of God's great gifts is the ability to create and to dream.

This year I am excited to present a fresh body of work, inspired by nature and the human spirit.

Leo Carl
If I can put a smile on someone’s face or stir some good memories, then I’ve accomplished my goal.

Kathrine Christensen
“I have been painting as long as I can remember. I paint with oils, acrylics, inks and encaustics. My mission, quite simply, is to find a way to paint the world I live in with beauty, truth and a little mystery.”

George Hurst
Finding a terrific piece of wood with colour and figure is exciting, being able to put that wood into a functional but artful piece of furniture is satisfying. There is so much wood and so much potential, I hope to bring some of those results like "Chaps" to the show this year.

This table has opened up the door for a "Wild West Series". Look out Gunsmoke!

Pam Warren McKinnon
It is the texture, colour, shape or the way light reflects on or travels through an object or scene that beckons me to paint.

Lisa Free
My challenge in painting is to capture the essence of a moment, a slant of light, mood or time of day and through my eyes, my sense of balance, hue, color, make my profound personal relationship with nature a collective one.

Mary-Louise Scappaticci-Olajos
Portrait painting is primarily my passion. Working from photos, sketches and real life I create mood and expression through colour, light and texture with oil paint, charcoal or mixed media. In encaustic and mixed media a variety of subjects are explored. Inspired by everything I see, feel and experience, I paint intense textured canvases that may express a word, a need, reaching out or searching, found in society today. Visual energy is also essential to my work.
