Karen Skyscapes
Painters in Motion was quite an experience. Spending 30 minutes to block in a "Skyscape" and hand it off was the first step in the journey of that canvas. In 15 minutes intervals that canvas passed through the hands of all seven artists, each adding their thoughts to the painting through their added brush-strokes. In some cases, the original statement made by the creator was completely changed. The end result saw seven paintings produced and auctioned off by the Gananoque Humane Society.

Sheila Skyscapes
Sheila was happily surprised to experience the audience support, their energy certainly provided encouragement and sometimes guidance. "This was a fun event for me and I can't wait to do it again next year. I didn't think the transformations would go to that extent, but it worked out really well."

"This is an artist friendly show, the excitment was contagious and that's what art is all about...expressing yourself."

George Skyscapes
For George, not having a tool or sandpaper to mold his art, painting was an entirely new experience. Having a crash course early in the morning really helped me start my canvas. I relied on the others to make it saleable and for sure was hesitant to change any of those pieces that came to me late in the process. "I really did enjoy being part of this event and discovering the painting rush!"

Leo Skyscapes
“We all paint differently and we don’t know if we are going to ruin someone else’s painting,” said Leo Carl. “It’s challenging but it’s fun too."

Kathrine Skyscapes
Something that starts off with each artist’s own distinctiveness, ends up looking like they hadn’t even touched the canvas and Kathrine says that’s the hard part. “I find it’s a real exercise in letting go.”

Pam Skyscapes
Guest artist Pam McKinnon said she was “scared to death” to try this medium.

“I am a watercolour painter and I’ve never used acrylics,” she said. “I find this very scary. But I’m having fun and I’m glad that people were able to fix my mistakes.”

Henry Skyscapes
For Henry, he said he didn’t take long to agree to the challenge.

“When I have a show I usually just stand around. It’s very boring… being active is much more fun,” he said. “But this is a lot faster pace than what I’m used to. It normally takes me a week to complete a painting.”

Karen Bockus
Along with my newest Equine Art paintings, I am excited to introduce to our show visitors this year my collection titled “Beach Series”. I have taken many photos on our travels as reference for future paintings but walking the Caribbean beaches has such a soothing effect that I have chosen to capture some of these memories on canvas.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed painting them.

Sheila Ballantyne
While immersed in the creation of the Cottage Life Collection, I have gone beyond depicting the natural beauty of our lakes and rivers, to incorporate the human element of this theme. With these vibrant, figurative, acrylic paintings I hope to express the essence of the Cottage Life experience to its fullest.

Come and feel the sunshine!

George Hurst
Gathering ideas to create and work towards introducing something outstanding for this year's show has been an exciting journey. I do have a few items that I feel fit that category. I have with Sheila created new pieces of Woodgrain Inspirations that are "truly unique". I also have taken creative license in developing a new process of joining woods of different textures. I will have new pieces of creative furniture to proudly display and hopefully that will inspire discussion with you."

Leo Carl
Participating in this show is an exciting time for me. I feel strongly that each year is an opportunity to stretch my creative talents and thus again, has caused me to pursue accepting challenges.

I wish that you view and enjoy my new “Silver Series” and share with me your comments as art enthusiasts.

Kathrine Christensen

Pam Warren McKinnon
Bold, new watercolours will be full of colour and light.

I never know what subject will appear next.

It is as much of a surprise to me as it is to my audience.

Henry Vyfvinkel
Henry will be showing a summer's worth of dedicated painting, both watercolour and oils. Following a Winter in the south and Spring painting schools in Italy there will be a fresh breath of new work by Henry.
