Leo Carl - Painter
Artist Statement
My two main pursuits are relaxation while working and personal satisfaction with the finished product. I work mainly with acrylic paint and graphite sketches and occasionally try my hand at carving, I guess what I’m trying to convey is the message that in the world of art the ways one person can express themselves are without boundaries.

Inspired by the interest shown by my grandchildren an ambition of mine is to encourage and possibly teach young people. I would like to provide incentive for others to find the creative seed that is in all of us and for them to pursue their artistic goals.

About The Artist
I was born in rural Lansdowne, Ontario and have spent most of my life in the area. I started drawing as a child. After a short stint at sign painting I eventually turned to family portraits. Examples of my graphite sketches can be found in many homes in the area and also in the local Royal Canadian Legion where portraits of past Legion presidents are on display. I helped co-found the Three Horse Art Studio Show & Sale where my paintings and other work are displayed at the Annual Fall Show. I still live in the area and presently work as a customs broker at the Lansdowne 1000 Islands border.

Both art and music played important roles early in my life, and while music has moved to the back burner, art has always been at the forefront as a passion to me.
I strive not to be pegged into any specific category therefore my works range anywhere from land and seascapes, wildlife, pet and human portraits, illustrative art, to commercial advertising.
